Description

This wonderful, historic English Calcite specimen with slender, long prismatic crystals up to 3.6 cm tall and the typical and sought-after “Kanonenspat” (canon spar) habit. The sharp crystals are all superbly terminated, have a great vitreous luster and excellent transparency, especially in the upper half of the water-clear crystals. Contact can only be seen on the periphery, but it can easily be ignored. A beautifully compact and elegant Bigrigg Calcite specimen from the iron mine, which was closed way back in 1932. This mine produced some of the finest calcite specimens in the world during its active period and this is truly a TOP specimen.
