Description
Even during my active times as collector of Lavrion minerals in the 1990s and 2000s, good Calcite specimens from the Esperanza Mine, located a little west of the Annabergite outcrops at the famous "KM 3" locality, were rather rare. On one hand, this was due to the relatively complicated accessibility of the underground mines, and on the other hand, due to the backbreaking work of hauling the finds into the light of day through the mostly ancient stopes and crawl sections.
A cluster of brownish Calcite scalenohedrons to almost 6 cm in length and excellent resinous luster. Excellent piece with great aesthetics value for the locality. This specimen was found by my deceased Greek friend Stathis Lazaridis.
