Description

This is an excellent Calcite specimen with several “Butterfly twins“ up to 4.4 cm in size that are loosely fused together. The crystals have a typical silky luster and are colorless to white in color with a gemmy translucency. This gorgeous piece, which was apparently recovered in the very early 2000s comes from the José Maria Patoni Mine in the Mexican state of Durango, which is known for its optical Calcite, the transparency/translucency of the crystals, and especially the crystallographic complexity of its Calcite crystals.
