Description

This is a very excellent miniature-sized Fluorite specimen from the famous Ojuela Mine in Mapimi in the Mexican state of Durango. The striking features of this specimen are the crystal faces of the piece: Highly lustrous but with obvious etching by Mother Nature. The crystals are extremely translucent, they are gemmy with a faint purple color. The main crystal measures an impressive 3.3 cm on edge and displays great stepped textures. Best of all, no significant damage as far as I can tell with the unaided eye. Under long-wave UV light, the specimen exhibits a blinding red fluorescence, typical indicator for a small lot that was found between 2007 and 2008. We all know that good fluorite specimens from Ojuela are extremely rare and as soon as they are aesthetic, such as this specimen, they are hard to come by on the market today, and usually fetch astronomical prices.
