Description

You are looking at a very excellent Polybasite )”Ruby Silver”specimen, which consists largely of well-formed six-sided tabular crystals averaging 4 mm in size. These wonderfully crystallized dark gray Polybasite crystals have a metallic luster and are dusted with tiny, golden sparkling Chalcopyrite crystals. A wonderful, sculptural and almost perfect specimen, which is unusual given the fragility (its Mohs hardness is 2½ - 3 ) of this relatively rare Silver-Copper sulfosalt. Simply a great piece from the San Juan de Rayas Mine in the Mexican state of Guanajuato!
