Description

The Exi Mine, also called Mine No. 6, in the Aghia Varvara district provided excellent specimens of numerous mineral species, especially in the 1960s to the early 1990s. However, good examples of Cuproadamite had become rare towards the end of this period because the clefts where the species was found had been largely exploited. That’s why I would date this excellent specimen to the time before 1980. The Cuproadamite crystals on typical gossan matrix are grass-green, sharp, and reach 3 mm in size. The luster is vitreous. They are accompanied by small spherical Malachite cluster. This is a very aesthetic combination, and characteristic material from a bygone mining period that is rarely offered anymore.
