Description
Another piece from the historic Marienberg mining district: Massive steel gray metallic crystals of “Chloanthite”, discredited as a species and now correctly called Nickelskutterudite is associated with sparkling tiny Safflorite crystals in the gaps between the Nickelskutterudote crystals. Very rich specimen, very good and relatively rare, and it gets harder and harder to find. The specimen is from the Marienberg district in Saxony, where Silver mining dates back to the early 1500s. After the depletion of the Silver deposits in the early 1900s, Uranium was mined after WW II until 1954 when richer Uranium deposits were discovered in other districts.
