Description

The Samson Mine, which was closed almost 125 years ago in 1910, produced during its operating period, remarkably beautiful Calcite specimens with a multitude of crystal forms. Many of these finds found homes in many of the most important collections of the world, and subsequently have become sought-after classics among collectors. I am excited to be able to offer a stunning example of these classics: a specimen adorned with numerous short prismatic, yet elegant Calcite crystals measuring up to 2 cm. They are nicely six-sided, with the triangular base form clearly visible. The lower sections of the crystals are colorless and clear, almost transparent, capped with a millimeter or two of opaque white that is topped with perfect flat terminations. This habit and color combination is very typical for the Samson Mine that never ceases to excite.
