You are looking at an excellent Rhodochrosite on Quartz specimen with deep raspberry-red rhombohedrons up to 1.6 cm in diameter. The translucent crystals sit slightly to the side on a bed of water-clear prismatic Quartz crystals, which gives this great specimen an added level of excitement and aesthetics. This is definitely a Peruvian TOP classic specimen, a rare piece that comes from a unique find in the 1980s. The Rhodochrosite crystals have excellent color, good transluceny, especially in the outer zones, and a super vitreous luster … almost comparable to the material from Colorado. This top specimen comes with a custom-made acrylic base.
