Description

You are looking at a very excellent German Argyrodite specimen. Steel-gray, metallic crystals shape spherical-stalactitic aggregates, which have hollow shapes (casts?) on the bottom of the specimen. Argyrodite is an exceedingly rare Germanium-bearing Silver Sulfosalt and the additional bonus of this piece is, that it comes from the type locality, the Himmelsfürst Mine in Freiberg, Saxony where it was discovered and named in 1886 by Albin Weisbach, professor at the Freiberg Mining Academy. Argyrodite itself is one of the rarest collectible silver minerals it is extremely scarce to get a hold of a top specimen such as this one. At best, I have come across maybe ten Argyrodite specimens during my 40+ years as a mineral dealer. A rare opportunity...
