Description
A classic specimen from a classic German locality that even Johann Wolfgang von Goethe visited: Topaz from Schneckenstein. This is a pale amber-colored large Topaz crystal with a diameter of 1.2 cm, and a very good vitreous luster on the prism faces. It is gemmy translucent and amidst several smaller Topaz crystals which are less well developed. The association is crested by small Quartz prisms. The cliffs of Schneckenstein are a natural landmark and can be visited and climbed during opening hours. However, collecting, even in the surrounding forest is strictly prohibited.
