Description
Beautiful specimen with well-crystallized Marcasite crystal clusters on matrix from the Christiane Mine in Hesse, Germany. The crystals are sharp and have a strong metallic luster. This aesthetic specimen at some time was probably covered with a protective varnish in a very early period, which can be seen with magnification. The Christiane Mine was an ancient Iron mine east of Dortmund. It was abandoned in 1963 after the Hematite deposit hosted in Devonian schists, bituminous limestones, and diabase was exhausted.
