Description

You are looking at a large, almost spherical Barite rosette measuring 4.1 cm. It is from the famous Beihilfe Mine near Halsbrücke north of Freiberg, Saxony. The specimen is quite light, not to say pale flesh-colored and sits very exposed on delicate honey-yellow, not quite perfect Fluorite cubes. A rather unusual and perfectly balanced piece of excellent aesthetics that obviously dates from the well-documented mining period between 1946 and 1967. During this time, most of the top specimens from the Fluorite and Barite veins were recovered. Top specimens such as this one have now almost completely disappeared from the market.
