Description
A 5.5 cm measuring Molybdenite cluster embedded in a Quartz matrix, a classic specimen from one of the richest Molybdenum mining districts in the Australian state of New South Wales. Waxy to the touch and with blinding metallic luster, this old-timer is an outstanding example of the species and for the locality. The area around Kingsgate was the largest Molybdenum & Bismuth producer in New South Wales with its heydays between 1905 and 1920. As of now (2020), the entire Kingsgate mining field has been subdivided into small acreage housing lots.
