Description

This is a very excellent and rich Pyromorphite specimen from the Zeehan Queen Mine in Tasmania, which is also known by the name Sylvester Queen Mine. The piece is literally covered with numerous mustard-yellow, hexagonal crystals up to 0.6 cm tall. Most of the short prismatic crystals with a great satin luster are doubly terminated with mostly excellent flat terminations. They form a wonderful contrast to the matrix, which is coated with dark brown Iron Hydroxides. This is definitely a top piece from the finds of the early 1980s that have not been repeated since.
