Description

We are looking at a magnificent deep and intense grass green Pyromorphite specimen from the Argentolle Mine near Autun in central France. The typical barrel-shaped crystals are sharp with some of them showing distinct hopper growth. A very rich, colorful and aesthetic specimen with only minimal imperfections, however, those are barely visible to the unaided eye. The specimen is covered all around with crystals of the Lead phosphate and has little matrix. As for the provenance of this rare Pyromorphite specimen: it was previously in the Pyromorphite collection of the deceased collector and Tsumeb specialist Dr. Gerd Tremmel who has the Zinc-Iron-Aluminum arsenide Gerdtremmelite named for him.
