Description

This extraordinary specimen features numerous, wheat-sheaf-shaped aggregates of Pyromoprhite and comes from the venerable Friedrichssegen Mine near Bad Ems. The dark brown crystals reach up to 1 cm, have great adamantine luster and superb transparency for species and locality. This is a very dramatic specimen that is of unusual aspect for the locality because it features an uncommon crystal shape on matrix. Most specimens from this classic mine showing more barrel shaped and/or stacked clusters of partly hoppered crystals. I have seen few matrix specimens, and fewer yet of this style and overall quality. It does admittedly have a few imperfection (not at all surprising given the age and size), though most of this is trivial and doesn´t stand out on the display face. A GREAT PIECE
