Description
Here we have a super rare and old-time Calcite mini from the Gotthard Highway Tunnel of Amsteg in Uri Canton, Switzerland. The crystals are very sharp edged, highly lustrous and lucent to transparent. These are showing the well-known "nail head" terminations and there is no imperfection on the crystals so far I can see. This locality describes the road tunnel connecting of Göschenen (Canton Uri) with Airolo (Canton Tessin), a part of the Swiss National road A2. The longest road tunnel in the Alps, constructed in 1970-1980. Since those days no specimen came out and consequently this kind of material is super-rare and desired. From the collection of well known collector Joachim Hennrich.
