Description
Here we have a superb mini of Calcite with great aesthetics. This unusual cluster of Calcite crystals shows sharp colours and contrasts. The crystals, to 2 cm in length, are prismatic and have dispersed and attractive red hematite staining at the terminations and two sides of the crystals. The bases are colourless and transparent, but have hints of amber which add a very unusual accent to the piece. From the infamous Banana Slide area of Haile Moor Mine near Egremont in Cumbria. Such old time material is obviously not available on the mineral market and consequently hard to come by nowadays.
