Description

This is a large sculptural specimen of deep black, iron-rich Sphalerite on a white matrix. The lustrous Sphalerite crystals are extremely abundantly scattered across the matrix. The white coloration of the matrix is caused by frosted opaque Quartz microcrystals. The entire specimen is extremely rich in contrast and very aesthetic. This is classic material from the 1960s and now relatively difficult to obtain in this quality; the mine is closed since the early 1900s.
