Description

This is an exciting specimen from the Sauberg Mine in Ehrenfriederesdorf with two wonderfully twinned Cassiterite crystals. They are up to 2.6 cm tall, which is pretty big for the locality. They crystallized in the shape of so-called “Visiergraupen” due to their resemblance with iron sights on a long gun. A classic Saxon specimen from a mine that was abandoned in 1990, and that has not produced any remarkable new material since then. The sharp, black-brown crystals have a very good adamantine luster and excellent striation. An absolute classic that is virtually unheard of on the market in this crystal size and, in my opinion, at an extremely reasonable price. In addition, the specimen in person is significantly better and more three-dimensional than it appears in the photos.
