Description

Spherical crystal aggregates of brick red Cinnabar with a diameter up to 0.7 cm are covered with highly lustrous and translucent Calcite crystals. This combination is abundantly sprinkled in a vug lined with white Calcite crystals. This very colorful and rich-in-contrast piece is from the classic Tuscan Mercury mine Abbadia (abbey) San Salvatore Mine that was in operation between 1899 and 1972. Closed for over 50 years, these pieces are now extremely rarely offered.
