Description

This stunning, 7 cm tall Semseyite specimen is one of the best ever that went through my hands. A superb 3-dimensional piece, much better in person, with clusters of sharp crystals of the rare sulfide Semseyite. The crystals, shaped like Roman swords, are perched on a black metallic matrix of lustrous Sphalerite. The crystals are excellently defined and perfectly terminated. Semseyite is an uncommon lead, antimony sulfosalt, that is rarely found in well-formed crystals, however, on this specimen, they are excellently formed. This great, yes, let´s face it, outstanding piece, is definitely incomparable with the common Semseyite pieces with the more stout and compact clusters. This crystals are more separated and elegant. A superb specimen! The specimen comes from the TYPE LOCALITY for the species, the Baia Sprie Mine of Maramureș, Romania.
