Description

A cavernous gossan matrix is richly covered with acicular, olive-green Olivenite crystals and an extremely well exposed crystal aggregate with a sizeable main crystal measuring over 1 cm. A good vitreous luster and fine structure characterize this Tsumeb specimen. This is undoubtedly classic material, most likely found in the early to mid 1980s. It was previously housed in the collection of the well-known, late German Tsumeb specialist Gerd Tremmel, after whom the rare Tsumeb species Gerdtremmelite was named in 1986.
