Description

This is a relatively seldom seen Mottramite specimen,- NOT from the far north-west located Tsumeb Mine, it comes from the Gross Otavi Mine almost 30 km east of Otavi. This is an old abandoned copper mine which was under construction between 1909 and 1941,- so material from here is very rare. And here we have a fine, not absolutely perfect but anyway very aesthetic specimen with several cauliflower shaped crystallized Mottramite aggregates richly set on mounded matrix. They are showing a wonderful sparkly surface due to countless intergrown, dark olive green crystals. A very good sample from an uncommon locality in Namibia.
