Description

This is a specimen with great history and provenance. A somewhat clustered specimen of beige, very thick, highly lustrous Barite crystals, some of which have somewhat serrated crystal faces and edges. The individual crystals are mostly translucent and the entire specimen has a very beautiful, three-dimensional and somewhat undulating structure. As far as I can tell there is no damage to the piece. The most special fact about it, however, is the provenance. The piece comes from the collection of the well-known Austrian Archduke Stephan [Erzherzog Stephan] (1817-1867) and is also accompanied by his original label. It happens from time to time that dubious dealers simply attach a specimen to a historic label to increase the value, however, in this case the original collections numbers 95 and 102 are attached on the back with old glue as well as written on the label. Definitely a must for the collector of classic and historical specimen, and specimens with proven provenance!
