Description

An exceptional miniature-sized Stephanite specimen form the venerable Himmelfahrt Mine near Freiberg, Saxony, which was closed in 1968 as the last active mine in the Freiberg region. The mine now serves as an educational mine for students of the Mining Academy in Freiberg, and also accessible tourists since 1991. The hexagonal Stephanite crystals on the specimen are superbly crystallized with an incredible metallic luster and perfect terminations. The minimal imperfections do not at all distract from the aesthetic appeal of the specimen. Ex Franz-Georg Ules and Günther John collections.
