Description
If you have ever wondered what exactly “Cannon Spar” (Kanonenspat in German) is, just take a look at this specimen. Water clear, gemmy partially doubly terminated Calcite crystals of the morphological variety that show a short prismatic habit with the hexagonal prism and either the basal pinacoid or flat rhombohedral faces. However, the crystals on this specimen can also be called Nailhead, the morphological variety of Calcite with a flat pyramidal termination of the prismatic crystals. And best of all, the transparent crystal have SCALENOHEDRAL PHANTOMS! There is a lot going on with this specimen from a small mining region just south of Dresden.
