Description

Spherical creamy white Thomsonite aggregates are perched on Basaltic matrix from the classic German Arensberg deposit. The Thomsonite clusters are perfect and show a light porcelain luster. Arensberg is a now abandoned Basalt quarry in the Eifel volcanic province south of Cologne. Quaternary Nepheline-Basanite was quarried for road and rail construction from about 1922 to 1954 and for a short period in the 1980s. Zeolite mineralizations occur in cavities in the contact zone of the basalt with the surrounding Devonian Dolomite.
