Description
A Calcite specimen from the Příbram mining district, however, without exact locality information. This is a large, well-terminated, twinned Calcite main crystal, sharp and attractively striated, associated with smaller Calcite crystals on matrix. The crystals of this specimen are translucent with a resinous luster, and have a very light amber color, which is reminiscent of some Belgian calcite. A very aesthetic specimen that can be displayed from every angle.
The Příbram district is an ancient mining district with many localities where the first mining activities were carried out by Celtic inhabitants, half a millennium before our calendar. During its varied mining history, Silver was extracted first, then Lead-Zinc ores, and finally Uranium.
