Description

Here is another European classic. A Calcite-Pyrite combination from the Lead-Zinc-Silver district in Trepča with historic records dating back to the late Middle Ages. Doubly terminated Calcite scalenohedrons with a frosted look are perched on a mass of sparkly golden Pyrite and Sphalerite(?) and the entire combination sits on a Quartz matrix. Some of the Pyrite shows a brown patina. The specimen shows only minimal damage and is a good example of contrast and aesthetics.
