Description
Schneckenstein in Vogtland is an important old locality for German Topazes. Material from this famous erratic deposit goes back nearly 300 years in the literature. These were treasured by mineral collectors when all collectors in Europe were nobility or their associates, and considered one of the hallmarks of great collection. Here, a gemmy and lustrous, 1 cm, yellowish Topaz crystal with a complex termination is nicely set on typicallymatrix from the famous Schneckenstein cliff of Saxony, Germany. It is a nice and aesthetic piece and it is a good crystal for this classic locale,- and it is nearly pristine. Relatively old-time material, meanwhile hard to come by.
