Description
A nice specimen from classic Hagendorf South Pegmatite near Pleystein in Bavaria. Phosphosiderite is a rare phosphate that is dimorphous (same chemical formula, different crystal system) with the more common phosphate Strengite. The glassy crystals here are up to 7 mm in lenght, they are gemmy and showing a beautiful burnt-red colour. The Hagendorf Mine was abandoned in 1984 and is still flooded. Consequently, good items from there will not be mined anymore. This is still classic material and more and more seldom seen for sale.
