Description
Boracite is a rare borate found in evaporite deposits and this rare and fine matrix specimen is from the Type Locality - the Lüneburger Kalkberg of Lower Saxony in Germany. Three sharp, translucent, greenish, orthorhombic Boracite crystals to 5 mm are nicely set on the Anhydrite matrix. This is definitely an old-time specimen as we all see on the very old and beautiful label. The Lüneburger Kalkberg is a small hill in the western suburb of Lüneburg, formerly the site of a gypsum quarry and famous among collectors in the 19th century for its Boracite crystals . Now a nature conservation park and collecting is strictly prohibited !!!
