Description

This is a very excellent and highly aesthetic Colorado classic from the Summitville Mining District in Rio Grande County. Comparing this piece with the ones I have seen over the years, I think, it is from the Reynolds Mine, however, I do not have proof for my assumption. This incredibly aesthetic specimen impresses with its deep peacock-blue iridescence on its thin-tabular Covellite crystals. They form hemispherical clusters with a diameter of up to 1.6 cm and sit abundantly on a typical opaque Quartz matrix. These are by far the finest Summitville Covellite we have handled to date and even in direct comparison with the great material from Butte in Montana, these pieces are considered among the best in the world, particularly in terms of color, contrast and elegance.
