Description

It´s hard enough to get your hands on high-quality Smithsonite specimens, and those from Zambia are even harder to get. So you can tell right from the start that this is an excellent and extremely rare Smithsonite specimen with a 5 cm tall, light amber-colored crystal cluster with parallel intergrown smaller ones, resulting in an incredibly aesthetic wealth of crystal faces. The crystals are gemmy-translucent, sharp-edged, highly shiny and very well terminated. On the display side there are smaller areas with sparkling colorless crystals that I think are tiny Hopeite(?) crystals. The crystal aggregate shows some contact on the back. Definitely a rare top specimen that is almost never offered and since the Zambian Broken Hill Mine was closed in 1989, no new material is available.
