Description

This is a very excellent Hessite on Quartz thumbnail from THE classic Romanian deposit of Botes (Botești, Boteș, Botesbánya) approx. 15 km northwest of Zlatna in Transylvania, Romania. The Silver Telluride Hessite is undisputedly one of the "Holy Grails" of mineral species, especially for Silver and/or rarity collectors from museum-sized pieces down to thumbnails. This specimen shows minimally rounded but still very well formed Hessite crystals measuring 0.8 cm in size, They are lead gray in color and display a metallic luster. They are associated with whitish translucent Quartz. These specimens were mostly found in moderate amounts in the mid-1800s and they are much rarer outside of museum collections. Here is a pretty unique opportunity to get your hands on a exceptional 360° thumbnail specimen with excellent balance and aesthetics.
