Description

We actually know Hollandite more as fine, felty to needle-like masses from numerous ore deposits around the world such as the ancient Silver mines around Lavrion, Greece. However, such elongated and robust Hollandite crystals are absolutely unusual, not to say rare. Since the steel gray to black crystals with a metallic luster have intergrown along the prism, the size is quite challenging to measure, but it is certainly well over one centimeter. The metallic crystals have grown into opaque milky Quartz with a greasy luster (German “Fettquarz”). I have to admit that I have never come unusual across material like this in my many years as collector and dealer.
