Description
Wonderfully color-zoned banded masses of the rare iron phosphate Laubmannite, type locality, various shades of olive green with a silky luster. A species with a sad history: It was originally described from Shady, Polk County, Arkansas, by Frondel in 1949. However, in 1990, Pete Dunn discredited the species, as it was determined that the type material is actually a mixture of Dufrenite, Kidwellite and Beraunite. Laubmannite lost its place at the table and is now considered a mixture of two or more distinct mineral species.
