Description
Andalusite is not necessarily the species that particularly excites me, but this is an extremely rare locality piece from Bräunsdorf near Freiberg, Saxony. Beige-gray crystal sheafs over 6 cm long on a Mica-rich matrix. Not necessarily an aesthetic winner, but certainly with historic merits: The specimen comes with nice historic label from Arthur Kusche, Munich, Germany. Arthur Kusche started his mineral business in the very early 1910s in Munich’s prestigious Leopold Straße. His business was purchased by the well known Munich mineral dealer Wilhelm Maucher ca.1924.
