Description
Chocolate brown Axinite crystals from Colebrook Hill in Tasmania’s outback. The crystals are up to 0.8 cm, and perched on a limestone matrix. They are sharp with excellent translucency. Colebrook Hill in Tasmanian has produced Australia’s best Ferroaxinite specimens, some of which are world class. The deposit occurs in an unusual skarn rock type, sometimes described as a limurite or axinite-hornfels. An interesting piece.
