Description

Although this specimen is not 100% perfect, it is still an excellent specimen of the rare Mercury-bearing Tetrahedrite on white limestone matrix. The steel gray isometric crystals, to 1.4 cm tall, have a metallic luster with a little bit of iridescent patina. These pieces were once considered to be their own species and named Schwazite after the first discovery at Schwaz near Brixlegg, Austria in the 1870s. This is an Austrian alpine classic from one of the many adits at St. Getraudi above the valley of the river Inn they and are nearly impossible to find on the market today.
