When you glance at this beautiful Hematite specimen, the first thing that comes to mind is the Swiss Cavradi Gorge. But don’t be fooled, occasionally such pieces have also been found in Tyrol´s Zillertal, or rather on the Mörchnerkar on the northern slopes of the Austrian main Alpine divide. And this is one of those Austrian pieces: A miniature-sized specimen with two large, loosely intergrown six-sided Hematite crystals with a diameter of almost 3 cm and some smaller “sidecars”. The Hematite crystals have the typical steel-gray color with a strong metallic luster and sharp edges. As a little bonus, reddish-brown prismatic Rutile crystals are scattered on one of the crystal faces of the Hematite. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!
