Stichtite is a rare hydrated Magnesium, Chromium Carbonate that is often associated with Serpentinite rocks. And this specimen is a great example. A rich layer vivid lavender colored Stichtite with a waxy luster covers the Serpentinite matrix on this fine old-time specimen from the South African Barberton region where some of the Earth’s oldest rocks are exposed.
