Description

This specimen is somewhat reminiscent of the ones from Bleicherode in Thuringia, however, it comes from the Sigmundshall Mine west northwest of Hannover in Lower Saxony, Germany. A cluster of cubic, colorless Halite crystals perched on a Gypsum crystal that is already partially converted into the sulfate species Leonite. The Halite crystals are very well crystallized, translucent and gemmy with partial hopper growth. Halite being a water-soluble mineral, this is a rare locality piece.
