Description
This is an impressive and colorful Chinese Cinnabar from the Mercury deposit of the Tongren Mine in China’s Guizhou Province. Two major clusters of prismatic, vivid crimson colored Cinnabar crystals, are perched on whitish crystalline Dolomite matrix. They measure to 0,7 cm tall with a great vitreous luster. Some of the crystals are twinned and ALL of them are translucent with vivid red internal glow. The crystals are very prominently perched on matrix creating a strong 3-dimensionality. Rare in such good quality, this piece is from finds at the Tongren Mine in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
