Description
This is an old Siegerland specimen with native Copper and numerous forest green aggregates of Malachite partially pseudomorph after native Copper (some of the copper still visible). The matrix is the typical black gossan of the deposit, an oxidized Siderite-Quartz vein with Lead ore and Limonitic Iron ore. The Wolf Mine operated from 1870 until its consolidation with other mines in the district in the mid 1950s, and was finally shut down in 1962. The mine is best known for its Rhodochrosite specimens.
