Description
This is a superb specimen with unusual gemmy honey yellow “Golden” Sphalerite crystals from the Dzhezkazgan Mine in Central Kazakhstan, which is worked for Copper and Zinc. The crystals are isometric with triangular terminations, highly lustrous and very translucent and excellent striations. This is classic material from the 1990s, now hardly to come by, especially in this excellent perfection and aesthetics. Spalerite such as this one is often called Cleiophane, the colorless to white or green variety of Sphalerite due to low bivalent Fe and Mn content or even "Golden” Sphalerite, the yellow gemmy species.
