Description
The pegmatites in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado have produced incredible Amazonite specimens. The Pike’s Peak batholith is source of some of the best in terms of color, crystal habit and associated mineral species such as Smoky Quartz and Fluorite. This specimen with sharp, stubby Amazonite crystals to 4.7 cm, has a well-saturated mint-green color, a porcelain luster and an incredible overall aesthetics. This piece which has small spots of contact at the periphery, is not repaired or restored, which makes it all the more interesting, considering that these specimens come from collapsed cavities in a decomposed granite/pegmatite.
