Description
Just as classic as it is aesthetic and rich in contrast, this Calcite specimen is from Iraí in Brazil’s southernmost state Rio Grande do Sul. A cluster of white “Cannon Spar” Calcite (a morphological variety with a short prismatic habit and the hexagonal prism and either the basal pinacoid or flat rhombohedral faces) on light lavender Quartz var. Amethyst showing parallel growth, with a well-structured crystal faces, vitreous luster and sharp edges. The Calcite aggregate is pristine, has a satin luster and the typical “Mercedes Star” terminations. And you know that all hell breaks loose when you hit Iraí Calcite with ultraviolet light.
